Lesson 26 of 39Portrait Retouching: Body

Hands

Remove hand veins for cleaner, smoother hand appearance in portraits.

Article· 3 min

The Hands tool focuses on Hand Vein Removal — reducing visible veins on the back of hands for a smoother, more polished appearance. This is especially relevant for close-up bridal, jewelry, and beauty photography.

How to do it

  1. In Portrait Retouching, expand the Hands group.

  2. Hand Vein Removal: use the slider to control intensity.

  3. The AI detects visible veins and reduces their prominence while preserving natural skin texture and hand structure.

Try it

Open a close-up showing hands with visible veins. Apply the Hand Vein Removal slider at 60% and compare — the veins should fade without making the hands look plasticky.

Watch out for

  • High values can smooth away hand structure along with veins — keep it moderate.

  • This tool focuses on dorsal (back of hand) veins; wrist or inner arm veins may not be affected.
