Backdrop Changer replaces the entire background with a different color, gradient, or image. The AI handles edge detection and blending, with Manual Tuning for precise control over tricky edges and a Preserved Area feature to protect specific regions.
How to do it
Open Backdrop Changer from the Background module.
Choose a backdrop mode: solid color, gradient, or custom image.
The AI automatically detects the subject and replaces the background.
Use the Manual Tuning Pen to refine edges where hair, clothing, or accessories meet the new backdrop.
Enable Preserved Area to protect specific regions from being replaced (e.g., a prop table or chair).
Try it
Open a studio portrait and replace the grey paper backdrop with a solid white background. Zoom to 100% along the hair edge and use Manual Tuning to clean any fringing.
Watch out for
Translucent fabrics (veils, sheer sleeves) are particularly difficult — check edges carefully.
Backdrop Changer works best when there is clear contrast between subject and background.
