A two-camera interview, podcast, or branded talking-head shoot routinely produces footage that doesn't match between cameras — even with identical settings, different sensors handle skin tones, shadow rolloff, and white balance differently. AI Color Match in Evoto Video handles this with Create Color Match from Preview: pick a hero frame from your A-cam, use it as the reference, and Evoto matches the B-cam clips to it via semantic recognition (skin, hair, clothing, background).
How to do it
Import both A-cam and B-cam footage into one Evoto Video project. Both LOG and Rec.709 are supported — you don't need to pre-convert.
Pick the A-cam hero frame — usually a mid-clip frame where the subject is well-lit and looking at the A-cam. Make sure it's the look you want to define the whole shoot by.
On that A-cam frame, run any grading or AI Color Match steps you want as part of the look. Once you're happy, use Create Color Match from Preview to lock that frame as the reference.
Switch to the B-cam clips. Run AI Color Match against the A-cam reference you just created. Semantic recognition handles skin / hair / clothing / background mapping automatically.
For the 2-3 B-cam shots where Quick Mode produces a too-strong match (often when the subject's clothing or background dominates the frame), switch to Control Mode and fine-tune.
Try it
On your next two-cam interview, pick the A-cam hero before touching B-cam at all. Run grading + portrait retouching on it. Create Color Match from Preview. Then bulk-apply against B-cam. Compare A and B side-by-side at delivery resolution: if cross-cam matches without per-clip fixes, the workflow is working.
Watch out for
Picking an unrepresentative A-cam frame as the reference (badly lit, wrong expression). The reference quality drives the match quality — invest 2 minutes picking the right frame.
Forgetting Apply Effects after matching B-cam. The match shows in preview but isn't rendered until Apply Effects runs.
Trying to use AI Color Match's manual grading tools — they don't exist yet in Evoto Video. Quick Mode and Control Mode are the only manual surface available; full wheels/curves are still NLE territory.
