Lesson 8 of 16Match, export, and hand off

Export only the clips you actually need

Choose regular export or segment export with intent, then check format, frame rate, and vCredit use.

Article· 6 min

Export is where vCredits, format choices, and delivery expectations meet. This lesson keeps the export small, predictable, and useful to the next tool or client.

How to do it

  1. Use Regular Export when the whole timeline is the deliverable.

  2. Use Segment Export when only selected clips or ranges need delivery.

  3. Choose MP4 for most delivery; choose MOV only when the editor or client explicitly needs it.

  4. Match source resolution and frame rate unless the brief says otherwise.

  5. Count only the exported seconds with applied effects when estimating vCredit use.

  6. Export a short test segment before rendering a long handoff.

Try it

Select two hero clips from a timeline and export them as MP4 segments. Confirm playback, frame rate, and file naming before sending or importing into your NLE.

Watch out for

  • Regular-exporting a 10-minute timeline when the client needs a 90-second cut.

  • Changing frame rate by accident. Mismatched frame rate creates judder or unnatural motion.
